FREDRIKSON STALLARD SOLO SHOW – CRUSHSeptember 1, 2012 9:19 am
A solo exhibition of work by Fredrikson Stallard at David Gill’s new gallery space in London’s St James’s. The show, called CRUSH, featured a new series of furniture expressing the energy of crushed metal. These include glass unit tables containing polished metal sheets in black, gold and silver which create abstract reflections of the surrounding space; low tables forged from a sheet of hand formed polished steel and the new Aviary chair, an incredibly intricate hand made piece also derived from studies of crushed metal sheet. The new work perfectly represents Fredrikson Stallard’s ability to create a meaningful relationship between work done by the hand and the computer. Also part of the show was a teal blue version the Pyrenees sofa, the iconic Fredrikson Stallard piece acquired by the Victoria & Albert Museum London in 2011.
