LA GAITE LYRIQUE & THE CENTRE NATIONAL DES ARTS PLASTIQUES EXHIBITION SHOW MING #1 VASE AS PART OF DESIGN ORACLES
March 1, 2015 9:57 amLa Gaite lyrique and the Centre national des arts plastiques (National centre for visual arts – CNAP) are joining forces and inviting renowned trend forecaster Lidewij Edelkoort to take a unique and original look at the CNAP’s collection of design and decorative arts and to plan an exhibition.
The design collection of the Centre national des arts plastiques, one of the largest in Europe and reflects the diversity and transformation of the contemporary world. Lidewij Edelkoort’s prospective and eclectic approach is in keeping with the spirit of this collection, which reflects the attention devoted to the most contemporary forms of artistic expression over the past thirty years, be they French or international, in order to build the cultural heritage of tomorrow.
Lidewij Edelkoort has selected a number of black objects from the CNAP’s design collection which have a powerful symbolic value and function as oracles. They are showcased at the entrance to the exhibition and speak to the visitors out loud. Amongst these Oracles is the Fredrikson Stallard Ming #1 Vase. The Ming #1 was acquired by the French National Art Colleciton in 2005 and is a seminal piece in the creation of Fredrikson Stallard.
Design Oracles Dates: 3 April – 16 August 2015 Venue: La Gaite lyrique Addres: 3 bis, rue Papin – 75003 Paris Website: www.gaite-lyrique.net
