Wallpaper* is teaming up with AfghanMade Carpets to showcase a new collection of handmade carpets from Afghanistan. Fredrikson Stallard was amoung a selection of designers invoted by the editors of Wallpaper Magazine.

The exhibition, which is curated and designed by Wallpaper*, features modern, contemporary handmade carpets from eight carpet design companies: Christopher Farr, ABC Italia, Nodus, Nanimarquina, Dandelion, Ignacio Larrain, Wool & Silk and AfghanMade Carpets.

Made using the traditional handcrafted techniques by Afghan tribal weavers, Palais de Tokyo rug by Fredrikson Stallard has broken away from the traditional tufted weave with larger flat woven areas depicting a small section of the vast urban decay of Palais de Tokyo in Paris. The incredible unique qualities of the Afghan wool brings a complex silky texture to the predominately dark charcoal tinted rug, with the weave evoking a xerox transmission, a facsimile from a correspondent documenting the residual evidence of activity, a broken paving slab, a stamp, foot print, a recording of time and consequence, surfaces and textures.
